On November 6, 2024, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards awarded a Citation of Honor to Ranjana on behalf of the Sri Chinmoy Centre, recognizing it as “an outstanding institution worthy of the esteem of the community, the Borough of Queens, and New York City.” During the ceremony, Ranjana presented President Richards with a special edition of Guru’s Garden of Love-Light, featuring poems in English, English transliteration, and Bengali script.
The award was part of a Diwali celebration at Borough Hall, where President Richards honored several organizations for their contributions to Queens. His remarks highlighted “outstanding residents who, through hard work and mutual respect, have built a wonderful community and made significant contributions to Queens.” Diwali, one of Hinduism’s major religious festivals, also holds significance in Jainism and Sikhism, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness.
